ZYN: the pouch the FDA reviewed
Behind the Brands
ZYN was created by Swedish Match, the Swedish snus company. Philip Morris International bought Swedish Match in 2022. ZYN was first sold in small numbers in the US in the mid-2010s, starting in Colorado.
The FDA decision
In January 2025 the US Food and Drug Administration authorised 20 ZYN products for sale in the US, the first time it had authorised any nicotine pouch. The FDA was clear that this isn't an approval and doesn't mean the products are safe, and ZYN can't claim a reduced risk. The decision covers the US range only.
The range
Cool Mint and Watermelon Mint are 11mg, Red Fruits 9mg and Blackcurrant Frost 13.5mg. Apple Mint and Black Cherry come as Minis at 6mg, which are smaller pouches. See them in the ZYN collection.

Pouches contain nicotine, which is addictive. They're for adults who already use nicotine.
